We’re excited to have a new partnership with Ashburton-based My Farm Fresh, bringing a unique and fun product to our food packing department.
Coming to us in February this year, we’re handling the packaging of My Farm Fresh’s new freeze-dried asparagus snack, “Wee Sticks”.
My Farm Fresh, owned by Dave and Bronwyn, is dedicated to bringing fresh, locally grown produce directly to consumers with an emphasis on sustainability. Their Wee Sticks are a new product they have created, offering a healthy and flavourful snack made from asparagus grown on their farm in Ashburton.
"Born from a desire to build a business that positively impacts the environment, My Farm Fresh is a celebration of the humble grower," says the company's website. "We take great care of our land, ensuring optimum growth and precise nutrient control, allowing us to produce fresh, crisp asparagus while minimising waste."
Our PacMan (Packaging and Manufacturing) division, specifically our food packing department, is currently taking the bulk freeze-dried asparagus and packaging it into the 30g bags. This process includes sealing the bags, adding best-before dates, and packing them into retail boxes containing 20 bags each.
The initial run involves packaging 40,000 bags of Wee Sticks! The asparagus season, lasting a couple of months each year, sees the produce picked, freeze-dried, and then sent to us for packaging.
We are proud to be part of the process that allows My Farm Fresh to bring their Wee Sticks to market!
“We are extremely pleased to have Cargill Enterprises in Dunedin packaging our new innovative healthy snack product Wee Sticks. Erik and Lisa have been awesome to work with and have gone the extra distance to help us get our product to market. We are looking forward to a successful relationship with Cargill Enterprises.” – Dave
